Roots, History and Culture 8 Day Tour- Senegal 

An 8 day tour of Senegal, including Dakar city tour and visiting Indépendance Square, African Renaissance Monument, Musée des Civilisations Noires, historic Goree Island, Lac Rose/Pink Lake, Saly beach, and Dakar nightlife. Travelers will also have an opportunity to volunteer and give back through our partnerships.

Tour Summary

Day 1 – Dakar Arrival 

• • • • • Meet your arriving flight at in Blaise Diagne International Airport 
        • Safe transport to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle 
        • Refresh and relax. Neighborhood or Dakar city orientation as time permits. 
        • Overnight at specified hotel at your expense: – optional booking by Travel Deeper Inc. available upon request  (i.e. Novotel, Pullman, Radisson Blu or another hotel depending on your budget) 
        • Dinner on your own – Travel Deeper Inc. is available to assist with recommendations and reservations with advanced notice    

Day 2 – Dakar City Tour and Shopping 

• • • • • Meet your guide at 9:00 AM and depart on guided tour of Dakar 
        • Visit Independence Square, African Renaissance Monument, Musée des Civilisations Noires, shopping at the local market 
        • Welcome lunch and discussion at local restaurant 
        • Return to hotel about 6pm for rest and reflection 
        • Dinner on your own – Travel Deeper Inc. is available to assist with recommendations and reservations with advanced notice  
        • Overnight at specified hotel at your expense: – optional booking by Travel Deeper Inc. available upon request  (i.e. Novotel, Pullman, Radisson Blu or another hotel depending on your budget) 

Day 3 – Day trip to Goree Island 

• • • • • Depart hotel at 9am 
        • Take a ferry to visit slave house museum, The Door of No Return, shop for art and local goodies
        • Take the Boat back after lunch at about 2:00pm
        • Rest and reflection at hotel 
        • Dinner with traditional Senegalese food 
        • Overnight at specified hotel at your expense: – optional booking by Travel Deeper Inc. available upon request  (i.e. Novotel, Pullman, Radisson Blu or another hotel depending on your budget) 
        • Optional Dakar Nightlife 

Day 4 – Day Trip to the Pink Lake/Lac Rose  

• • • • • Depart hotel in the morning and drive about 1 hour to the Pink Lake 
        • ATV drive on the sand dunes, and tour the lake and salts mountains
        • Visit the Fulani village. You will have the opportunity to meet the chief of the village
        • During lunch, experience a naming ceremony with traditional drumming and music

Day 5 – Safari visit at the Reserve of Bandia 

• • • • • Visit the wildlife where African animals are free in the forest of Baobab by a 4 well drive,
        • cans island watching the Mangroves and more than 30heures type of birds migran.
        • Lunch at Saly at the Fishing village restaurant 
        • Stay overnight in Saly, a seaside resort town at a highly rated TripAdvisor hotel 

Day 6 – Rest and reflection day in Saly – beachside

Day 7 – Cayar fishing village, Thiaroye Cemetery, Shopping

        • Visit Masalikun Djinane Mosque and Military cemetery of Thiaroye 44
        • Shopping around town and the Sandaga market village
        • Optional Dakar Nightlife 

Day 8 – Dakar Departure

        • Safe delivery to airport at least 2 hours before your evening flight

An 8 day tour of Ghana, visiting Accra, markets, beaches, Kumasi, Traditional villages, the former slave castle at Cape Coast, and West Africa’s highest rainforest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park. Travelers will also have an opportunity to volunteer and give back through our partnerships.

Day 4 – Kakum National Park, Crocodiles, Anomabu Beach Village

Drive time – 4 hours

        • Onward to the fishing village of Anomabu, tour the old town and Fort William.

Day 5 – Slave Cemetery, Cape Coast Castle, Cape Coast Beach

        • Tour the former slave market and cemetery at Assin Manso, the Slave River
        • Tour the U.N. World Heritage Site of Cape Coast castle

Day 6 – Kokrobite, Bojo Beach

Drive Time – 3 hours

Day 7 – Shopping & NightLife
